IBM Unveils New AI Based Watson Solutions to Aid 9 Industries

International Business Machines Corporation (IBM - Free Report) recently unveiled new and innovative Watson solutions and services aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) development. These solutions will cater to nine industries which include agriculture, customer service, human resources, supply chain, manufacturing, building management, automotive, marketing and advertising.

This initiative positions IBM well to gain momentum on the back of Watson.

Details of the Development

IBM’s AI Highlights technology will be integrated into agricultural Internet of Things (IoT) data to enable growers and enterprises analyze and enhance yield through improved decisions.

Additionally, IBM also made Watson Discovery available for Salesforce in order to aid organizations and customer service agent’s access appropriate information to address to customer queries and inquiries rapidly. Per a report by IBM released last week, customer satisfaction is the primary reason behind around 77% of organizations focusing on AI investments. This significantly decelerates the process of large scale implementation of AI adoption.

Furthermore, another recent study by IBM global Chief Human Resource Officers revealed that “33% surveyed believe AI will revolutionize the way they do business over the next few years.” IBM’s new solution provides the remedy to flip through hundreds of applicants per day and helps cater to these hiring decisions.

Moreover, IBM has also unveiled its Watson solutions for assisting Marketing feature, WEATHERfx Footfall for advertising campaign, AI for vehicles, specially-crafted Watson toolsets to aid manufacturing for industrial equipment and Watson Supply Chain Insights.

We must note that the number of companies utilizing enterprise AI is increasing. Huge volume of data is being generated through a wide range of sources. The companies want to leverage AI to provide specific solutions and enhance solutions’ capabilities. IBM’s new Watson solutions provide a sorted ready-to-use data platform to the companies, consequently, accelerating their AI processes.

We believe that IBM is exploring the length and breadth of intertwined AI layers by providing solutions pertaining to specific industries. IBM is well poised to benefit from its growing presence in the enterprise AI market on an increasing clientele.

Watson continues to add to its clientele, primarily due to strong demand for new virtual assistant offering. This is yet another tailwind for IBM’s Watson which is witnessing increasing adoption across many industries.

In fact, per an IDC report, worldwide spending on cognitive and AI systems is estimated to be over $52.2 billion by 2021 at a CAGR of 46.2% from 2016 to 2021.

Notably, IBM Watson AI capabilities have also been leveraged by The All England Lawn Tennis Club (“AELTC”) to boost engagement for Wimbledon fans in the recent past.
