Activision Blizzard’s much-awaited Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The latest title instantly became a hit as it generated record digital sales on the first day of release in the company’s history.

Activision stated that the first-day digital sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 broke the franchise record set in 2017 by Call of Duty: WWII.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Introduces BR Mode

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has three different modes: Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout. For the first time ever, the series will not include a single player campaign.

Of these, the all new Battle-Royale (BR) mode Blackout is the most anticipated feature that Activision has incorporated in the game. The new feature strengthens the company’s competitive position against the likes of Tencent Holding (TCEHY - Free Report) PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Epic Games Fortnite.

The Blackout mode involves more than 80 players being dropped on a massive map. The players have to loot weapons, first-aid kits, kill the opponent and avoid danger. There are zombies located on the map who guard the loot.  Moreover, the map closes in on a particular location and the last player standing in the war zone wins.

Call of Duty: Key Growth Driver

Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest growth drivers for Activision. Notably, Call of Duty: WWII was the top-selling console video game in 2017, globally.

Further, more than 200 million players have played the Black Ops series for a total of more than 15 billion hours over the game’s lifetime, reflecting the franchise’s popularity.

The company has also collaborated with Tencent for Call of Duty mobile, which will make the best-selling franchise available for millions of Chinese mobile gamers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 comes with another remarkable feature, League Play. Apart from participating in the League, the players can also watch the Call of Duty World League (CWL) streamed events.

Activision is evidently using the growth of e-sports industry to its benefit. Notably, Call of Duty e-sports has a total prize of $6 million this season, which is the highest in its history. Additionally, the company removed regional restrictions and now allows players from all around the world to compete. This is further expected to raise the popularity of the game.

Activision Blizzard, Inc Price and Consensus

Moreover, its multi-year deals with Amazon’s (AMZN - Free Report) Twitch, Disney and Twitter to live stream its other e-sports league, Overwatch, is a significant positive.

Activision currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

The Hottest Tech Mega-Trend of All

Last year, it generated $8 billion in global revenues. By 2020, it's predicted to blast through the roof to $47 billion. Famed investor Mark Cuban says it will produce "the world's first trillionaires," but that should still leave plenty of money for regular investors who make the right trades early.
