Ambarella Ups the Ante in ADAS With SoC, Joins HELLA Aglaia

Read MoreHide Full Article

Ambarella, Inc. (AMBA - Free Report) recently took a major step in the autonomous vehicle industry by launching the CV22AQ automotive camera System-on-Chip (SoC) for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

It also partnered with intelligent visual perception software developer, HELLA Aglaia, to develop a platform based on the CV22AQ technology, which will add advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features in front ADAS cameras.

The CV22AQ SoC is built on Ambarella’s CVflow computer vision architecture to deliver powerful capabilities, which are needed to meet the requirements of the New Car Assessment Program for various applications such as automatic emergency braking, headlight control and speed functions.

Apart from front ADAS cameras, the SoC is designed for applications like electronic mirrors with blind spot detection, interior monitoring cameras and parking assisting monitors.

The platform features an image signal processor and a massive, power-efficient AI capacity, which will enable various functions required for safety-critical applications.

The CVflow architecture provides deep neural network processing for intelligent home monitoring, automotive, drone and wearable cameras. It is built on advanced 10nm process technology and is used in both human vision and computer vision applications.

During the last reported quarter, Ambarella demonstrated its newly designed CV2 and CV22 SoC plus home monitoring cameras among others, at the 2018 Security China Exhibition on Public Safety and Security in Beijing.

The company is making steady progress on the development and delivery of computer video solution based on its CVFlow architecture. The company released CVFlow software developed kits, supporting its CV2 and CV22 SoCs, attracting positive consumer feedback.

Growing demand for single chip solutions with integrated computer vision processing in the surveillance camera market bodes well for the company’s CVflow architecture-based SoC solutions.

Also, the ADAS market, which per MarketsandMarkets is projected to reach $91.83 billion by 2025, reflecting a CAGR of 20.96% between 2018 and 2025, relies heavily on ADAS cameras and computer vision technology. Being a leading player in this space, Ambarella seems to be well positioned to tap the opportunity.
