Synopsys, Inc. (SNPS - Free Report) has introduced features in the version 2018.12 of the Synopsys RSoft Photonic Component Design Suite, which will help the upgrade of optics design used in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) systems.
Reportedly, the latest release will support Synopsys’ optical design workflow for nano-textured diffractive optical elements that allow functionality of slick, slimmer, smaller and lightweight AR/VR devices flaunting enhanced visuals and virtual feel.
The enhancement of RSoft Bidirectional Scattering Distribution Function (BSDF) in the brand new version will provide greater design flexibility and speed.
Synopsys’ management was quoted saying, “With the LightTools and RSoft products' multi-domain simulation approach that combines macro- and nano-scale optical engineering, designers can create AR/VR models that provide end users with a superior sense of display immersion and visual comfort."
Synopsys acquired RSoft Design Group in May 2012. The company has augmented the CODE V and LightTools product lines with the addition of RSoft products that enable it to provide a full spectrum of photonic and optical design solutions.
Notably, the RSoft product suite is used to design, optimize and simulate optical telecommunication devices, optical components used in semiconductor manufacturing and nano-scale optical structures.
The solutions assist engineers to design and optimize the optical components and systems found in fiber optic networks, semiconductor lithography equipment, silicon optical chips and LEDs.
Notably, the company’s strategy to deliver a stream of innovative products for capitalizing on the emerging opportunities is aiding it to generate a large number of competitive wins and build significant customer relationships.
