Schnitzer Steel (SCHN) Q1 Earnings Beat Estimates

Schnitzer Steel came out with quarterly earnings of $0.58 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.57 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.63 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 1.75%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this recycler of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal would post earnings of $0.95 per share when it actually produced earnings of $2.06, delivering a surprise of 116.84%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates three times.

Schnitzer Steel, which belongs to the Zacks Steel - Producers industry, posted revenues of $564.02 million for the quarter ended November 2018, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.54%.
