Cadence Rolls Out LPDDR5 Solution, Expands IP Portfolio

Read MoreHide Full Article

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (CDNS - Free Report) recently rolled out LPDDR5 IP solution utilizing Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSM - Free Report) 7-nanometer (nm) FinFET (Fin Field Effect Transistor) process technology.

Notably, Cadence Denali Gen2 IP, the “industry’s first” silicon-based as well as LPDDR5 (Low-Power Double Data Rate) standard IP solution, is available.

Features & Benefits

The latest LPDDR5 solution delivers almost 1.5X faster bandwidth when compared with the highest speed offered by “LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X.”

Further, the comprehensive solution features Denali DDR-based Cadence LPDDR5/4/4X controller, Verification IP (VIP), and PHY (physical interfaces).

The new solution provides higher bandwidth which facilitates complex technical applications. It assists developers to design chips which provide accelerated artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), automotive, cryptocurrency mining, and mobile computing processes.

Notably, Cadence’s latest solution supports Arm company’s AMBA protocols. Consequently, it enables Arm to develop processors (utilizing LPDDR5 technology) with reduced time to market.

What Investors Should Know?

Notably, shares of Cadence have returned 48.2% in the past year, substantially outperforming the industry’s rally of 20.1%.

Cadence is benefiting from robust adoption of the company’s PCIe (peripheral component interconnect express) and DDR products in the IP segment. Moreover, the company is leaving no stone unturned to assist its customers in reducing time-to-market by accelerating their system-on-chip (“SoC”) design processes.

Furthermore, growing clout of Cadence’s IP solutions particularly in the automotive end-market holds promise given the significant growth prospect of the advanced driver assistance systems ("ADAS") market, which is estimated to be worth $91.83 billion by 2025, according to data from MarketAndMarkets.

Notably, in the last reported quarter, the company had announced its latest DDR5 test chip. Further, the company continues to roll out innovative interface and memory design IP solutions using TSMC's FinFET Compact process.

We believe that incremental adoption of the offerings will favor financial performance of IP segment going ahead.
