Facebook (FB) Gains But Lags Market: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, Facebook closed at $166.08, marking a +0.39% move from the previous day. This change lagged the S&P 500's 1.09% gain on the day. Elsewhere, the Dow gained 0.84%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq added 1.42%.

Prior to today's trading, shares of the social media company had gained 1.77% over the past month. This has lagged the Computer and Technology sector's gain of 4.97% and outpaced the S&P 500's gain of 1.18% in that time.

Investors will be hoping for strength from FB as it approaches its next earnings release. On that day, FB is projected to report earnings of $1.65 per share, which would represent a year-over-year decline of 2.37%.
