• Nordstrom (NYSE:JWN - Analyst Report) last night posted inline second quarter earnings of 66 cents a share, on a 12.7% revenue climb to $2.4 billion, slightly below Zacks estimates of $2.5 billion
• Autodesk (NASDAQ:ADSK - Analyst Report) reported earnings of 36 cents for the second quarter, 16 cents above Zacks estimates on a 14% revenue gain to $473 million
• NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA - Analyst Report) reported lower-than-anticipated second quarter earnings of 3 cents, an 8-cent miss, on revenue of $811 million, that missed Zacks estimates of $838 million
• IBM (NYSE:IBM - Analyst Report) and Unica (NASDAQ:UNCA) announced a definitive agreement for IBM to purchase Unica for $21 per share, in a deal worth about $480 million
• JCPenney (NYSE:JCP - Analyst Report) posted adjusted results of 20 cents for the second quarter, on a 1% comparable sales gain to $3.938 billion. The firm lowered full-year guidance to $1.40-$1.50 per shares from earlier projection of $1.64, citing a "conservative approach to the second half of the year in what continues to be an uncertain consumer climate
