Arrow Electronics, Inc. (ARW - Analyst Report) announced that it is expanding its global distribution agreement with Carclo Technical Plastics to distribute its optical products in North America and Asia. Arrow already has an agreement with Carclo to distribute its products in the EMEA region.

Carclo manufactures discrete optics and modular optical systems with facilities in Europe, the Americas and Asia. The modular solutions are used for street and wide-area lighting. Carclo products include electro-optic and Fresnel lenses, reflectors, TIR optics, and multi-element modular optical systems.

Under the recent agreement, Arrow can offer a broader optical product range for the design and manufacture of solid-state lighting, as well as drivers and connectors, power and thermal management solutions, and LEDs.

Arrow recently announced that its business segment – Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) has signed an agreement with Syncort to be among the first distributors of the NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup solution in the United Kingdom. Last year, both the companies had signed a deal for North America.

Syncort provides data integration acceleration and data protection software solutions. Arrow provides enterprise computing solutions to value-added resellers (VARs) through its global ECS business segment.

Management at Arrow stated that NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup offers its channel resellers a superior data-protection solution which complements their existing NetApp portfolios and can be used strategically to create new markets and revenue streams.

In addition, the solution reduces the cost and complexity associated with traditional back-up architectures and is ideal for heterogeneous storage and virtual environments. NetApp Syncsort Integrated Backup offers simple, integrated and proven data protection that resolves critical back-up and recovery challenges.

We expect overall demand and margins to improve as volumes ramp up.
