• Shares of Edwards Lifesciences Corp. (NYSE:EW) slumped 21.2% after it slashed its third quarter 2012 estimates. Revenues are now expected to come in at $448 million, down from earlier projections of $465−$485 million

• Shares of Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:SPB) jumped 11.9% after it agreed to buy Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.’s (NYSE:SWK) hardware and home-improvement unit for $1.4 billion

• Owens Corning’s (NYSE:OC) shares dropped 8.4% after poor performance of its roofing and composites unit led the company to slash earnings forecasts for 2012

• Matrixx Initiatives upped its buyout offer for ProPhase Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ:PRPH) to $1.60 per share from the earlier offer of $1.40
