ASEI Awarded Government Contract

Leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray inspection systems, American Science & Engineering Inc. ( ASEI - Snapshot Report ) recently procured an U.S. government contract worth $2.6 million for the regular upkeep of its cargo X-ray inspection systems. The contract entails American Science & Engineering to provide service and maintenance for Z Portal and ZBV systems that are typically used for cargo and vehicle screening purposes.

The Z-Portal inspection systems are engineered to detect concealed threats and contraband such as explosives, drugs, weapons, or alcohols by scanning cars, vans, trucks, or any other cargo-laden vehicles. The devices are adept for high-traffic locations with space constraints and high-throughput requirements.

The products employ an indigenously built and patented Z Backscatter technology to produce photo-like images of the contents of a container or vehicle, highlighting organic materials that reveal potentially hazardous or threat items. Consequently, the products play an integral part in protecting high-risk zones and in combating terrorism and trade fraud, drug smuggling, weapon smuggling and illegal immigration.
