You know you mind is mush on a Friday during earnings season when you start looking just as market caps and performance metrics, but that is just what I did.
The basic idea is that some people like the security of the big caps while others like the risk on idea of small caps. Many also see the wisdom in playing right in the middle of both, the mid-caps as many call them.
I am not sure if this will be surprise to anyone, but the idea of bigger being better doesn't really work out for stocks. The small caps routinely outperform the big caps... but it really comes down to a matter of preference.
