Headquartered in Long Island City, NY, Altice USA, Inc. is one of the largest broadband communications and video services providers in the United States. The company was a subsidiary of Altice NV, a convergent global leader in telecom, content, media, entertainment and advertising founded in 2001 by entrepreneur Patrick Drahi.
Altice delivers broadband, pay television, telephony services, Wi-Fi hotspot access, proprietary content and advertising services to 4.9 million residential and business customers across 21 states through its Optimum and Suddenlink brands. In addition to video-on-demand, high-definition channels, and pay-per-view services, it also provides voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone and mobile services. Moreover, the company offers Ethernet, data transport, IP-based virtual private networks, Internet access and enterprise class traditional multi-line phone service. Further, it provides business e-mail, hosted private branch exchange, Web space storage, and network security monitoring along with audience-based and IP-authenticated cross-screen advertising solutions, television and digital advertising services.
The company acquired cable TV company Cablevision Systems Corporation on Jun 21, 2016 and Cequel Corporation on Jun 9, 2016. During the fourth quarter of 2018, Altice simplified its organizational structure and operations by combining the Suddenlink (Cequel) and Optimum (Cablevision) businesses under a single credit silo, post the separation from Altice Europe NV. The combination marks a significant milestone in the integration of the Suddenlink and Optimum businesses and aligns the corporate debt capital structure with a common strategy.
