Fund Description

Incepted in April 1987, this fund is managed by Dreyfus Corporation. The objective of this fund is to provide as high a level of current income as is consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. government or its agencies or instrumentalities and in repurchase agreements collateralized by such securities. The fund may also invest up to 35% of its assets in mortgage related securities issued by U.S. government agencies or instrumentalities such as mortgage pass through securities issued by the Government National Mortgage Association, the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, and collateralized mortgage obligations including stripped mortgage backed securities. The fund offers dividends every month and capital gains annually.
