EPS Surprise is the difference (expressed as a percentage) between the actual reported quarterly earnings per share (EPS) vs the estimated quarterly EPS. A company that reports $1.10 in actual quarterly EPS vs. $1.00 in estimated quarterly EPS would show a 10% positive EPS surprise.
