Harris Corporation (HRS - Free Report) , a leading public safety and professional communications service provider, has got yet another boost from its flagship Falcon III radio product as the company won a $61 million order from Poland.
Harris will be supplying Falcon III AN/PRC-117G manpack radios and Falcon III AN/PRC-152A handheld radios to Poland’s Ministry of National Defence. These radios will be used for the country’s tactical radio modernization program.
Both the radios are equipped with Networking Wideband Waveform (ANW2), which provides situational awareness to soldiers in the battlefield by providing through high-bandwidth communications. The radios allow video streaming, simultaneous voice and data chats, thus, providing real time information to war fighters.
Additionally, Harris’ Falcon III radios can be used by the Polish defence personnel for uninterrupted communication with the U.S. and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) during joint missions.
To date, Harris has deployed more than 40,000 of these radios worldwide, which are extensively used by the defence department of the U.S. and 15 allied nations. The deal signifies the growing global popularity of the company’s communication products among the defence sectors of various countries.
Harris’ RF Communications segment provides secure radio communications and embedded high-grade encryption solutions for military, government and commercial organizations. At the end of the third quarter of 2013, order backlog in the segment came in at $1.14 billion including $561 million in the Tactical Radio Communication division.
Of late, Harris has been struggling in the domestic market because of the ongoing defence budget contraction in the U.S., which has forced the company to slash its guidance. We believe that this contract wins in the international market will allow Harris to compensate the slowdown in the U.S. market.
Currently, Harris carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).
