Tractor Supply Company

Read MoreHide Full Article

Tractor Supply has underperformed the broader Zacks industry in the last one year, with its seasonal business being a major hurdle, as unseasonable weather is likely to hurt its operational results in the peak selling periods. Evidently, the company provided an update on its first-quarter 2017, wherein sales improved but comps declined year over year, mainly due to soft seasonal product sales and deflationary pressure. Weather remained worst in the Northern regions, where sales were most strained. This compelled management to issue a disappointing earnings outlook for the first quarter of 2017, thus raising concerns. Nevertheless, the company remains hopeful of the spring selling season, wherein it anticipates seasonal merchandise sales to witness some improvement. The company’s upcoming merchandise strategies and constant implementation of its cross-network consumer-centric growth plans further reflect its spring season prospects.
