Semiconductor solutions provider, QuickLogic Corporation (QUIK - Snapshot Report) , recently announced an amalgamation with MEMS Industry Group (MIG) to actively solidify its presence in the mobile market.
MIG is a trade association which facilitates the promotion of Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) applications across global markets. Well-known market giants like Honeywell International Inc. (HON - Analyst Report) , General Electric Company (GE - Analyst Report) , Intel Corporation (INTC - Analyst Report) and HP coupled with other companies like Analog Devices, Applied Materials, Bosch and Freescale Semiconductor are part of MIG
MEMS, popularly known as micromachines in Japan, is a technology that permits electronic circuits and mechanical devices to be manufactured on a silicon chip. The technology supports the production of items like sensor chips, which are comparatively smaller in size than the original ones.
In the current era of smartphones and tablets, the usage of MEMS technology in these devices has risen. QuickLogic believes that its collaboration with the MIG group will enable strengthening of the focus on supporting MEMS technology in mobile devices.

In September QuickLogic partnered with G’Five – a leading consumer electronics company in China – to supply ArcticLink III BX Customer Specific Standard Products (CSSPs) for the latter’s next tablet design. The ArcticLink devices primarily offer display interface bridging solutions.
Moreover, QuickLogic also supplies its ArcticLink III VX CSSP to Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. for its GALAXY Tab 3 7.0 tablet.
