•    U.S. antitrust regulators have given their assent to Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) acquisition of Nokia Corporation’s (NYSE:NOK) mobile phone business.

•    Shares of Forest Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:FRX) jumped more than 9% after the company said it is planning to purchase rights to a fresh schizophrenia treatment from Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE:MRK). The company is also planning to reduce its annual operating costs by $500 million in fiscal 2016.

•    The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) jumped more than 2% after the company said it is planning to sell off the majority of its chlorine business.

•    Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM) will purchase Prolexic Technologies Inc, a cloud-based security supplier for nearly $370 million.
