Passenger carrier JetBlue Airways Corporation (JBLU - Free Report) announced the launch of a new automatic check-in service in order to enhance its passengers’ flying experience.

Effective July 9, the initial segment of JetBlue passengers will receive their boarding pass via email 24 hours prior to the slated flight time. Passengers can either print their boarding passes or download a Mobile Boarding Pass through the carrier’s Android mobile app or JetBlue iOS.

The automatic check-in service will free fliers from the obligation of having to log on from a computer and manually check in for the scheduled flight. With the check-in automatically in place, passengers will have the freedom to arrive at the airport and proceed directly for boarding.

However, this service is only available to customers who have booked domestic seats with Even More Space seats. For those not currently eligible for this service, the standard check-in procedure will continue to be in place.

JetBlue will eventually expand the service to customers in assigned core seats over the next year. International passengers and those without assigned seats can avail this service in the latter part of 2015.

With smartphone usage on the rise among customers, this service should help JetBlue attract more customers and counter competition, in turn driving its top and bottom line higher in the coming quarters.

JetBlue is making consistent progress in expanding its product and service offerings on board and on the ground to aid growth in ancillary revenues. Going forward, JetBlue plans to continue calibrating Even More pricing to optimize revenues and expects its continued success to contribute about $190.0 million to revenues this year.

JetBlue Airways currently holds a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
