FMC Corp. (FMC - Free Report) has declared the extension of its agreement with Monsanto Company to further their participation in the Roundup Ready PLUS Crop Management Solutions platform. Per the agreement, FMC's Authority brand sulfentrazone herbicides will be incorporated and its Capture LFR insecticide will be added as a soil-applicable insecticide for corn, as a qualifying brand in the Monsanto recommendation platform.
FMC Corp’s herbicide brands have a wide range of products for weed control on different types of soil, geographies and weed growing conditions. Moreover, its Authority herbicide brand platform uses various premixes offering pre-emergence weed control that is part of Roundup Ready PLUS Crop Management Solutions.
Following its launch, the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans will be the first biotech-stacked soybean trait, resistant to both dicamba and glyphosate herbicides. After its launch, this system, together with post applications of Roundup Xtend or Xtendimax herbicides which are pending approvals, will enable farmers to control weed growth for better crop yield.
Monsanto expects the new Roundup Ready 2 Xtend trait technology to be accessible to soyabean growers in 2016. However, the post-emergence use of the dicamba herbicide within the Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System is still awaiting regulatory approval.
According to Chris Reat, Monsanto's U.S. Roundup Ready PLUS marketing manager, the company is looking forward to this collaboration to offer the best crop management solutions to growers for the production of maximum yields. Monsanto further wants to continue developing Roundup Ready PLUS Crop Management Solutions via cross-training efforts, in collaboration with FMC.
