Read MoreHide Full Article

In line with its commitment toward store expansion and enhancement of store productivity for continued improvement, DICK'S Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS - Free Report) announced plans to inaugurate three new stores – one each in Texas, Washington D.C. and Mississippi. These stores are slated to open doors on Sep 16, with grand celebrations continuing over the weekend.

While the new Texas store will be located at Longview Mall in Longview (3500 McCann Road), the Washington outlet will come up in The Shops at Dakota Crossing (2470 Market Street NE). Finally, the store in Mississippi will be housed at Oxford Galleria II in Oxford (300 Merchants Drive).

While the Washington store will be the first in the state, the new Texas and Mississippi locations will take the company’s store count in these states to 25 and 7, respectively. Notably, these stores will take DICK’S Sporting’s countrywide store base to 659.

The new stores will offer over 40 in-store services provided by DICK'S certified PROS in sports and outdoor specialties like golf, bike and fishing. Additionally, these locations will house Under Armour Inc. (UA - Free Report) and Nike Inc. (NKE - Free Report) shops. The outlets will also accommodate athletic clothing and footwear, along with the latest equipment for team sports, fitness, camping, hunting and fishing.

In order to attract customers to its new stores during the celebration period, DICK’S Sporting has announced a range of lucrative giveaways.

The company will distribute free Reebok Play Dry T-Shirts to the first 100 people in queue on the opening day. The early birds (only adults) will also get an opportunity to open the DICK'S Sporting Goods Gift Locker on all three days of celebrations. Moreover, on Saturday and Sunday, the company plans to give away Mystery Gift Cards to the first 100 adults in line.

Additionally, various celebrities have been invited to make in-store appearances on Saturday. Also, those coming to the stores first will be handed out a wristband, while stocks last.

We believe that this full-line sporting goods retailer will benefit from its in-store action and online growth strategies. Also, the company has been aggressively expanding its store base and eCommerce capabilities to achieve its long-term revenue target of over $10 billion by the end of fiscal 2017.
