Read MoreHide Full Article

Rambus Inc. (RMBS - Free Report) recently announced the appointment of Rahul Mathur as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Senior Vice President.

Mathur brings to Rambus extensive experience in financial management along with global business insight in both services and technology. The newly appointed CFO is expected to take Rambus to newer heights. With his leadership traits, expertise and experience, he is expected to unlock further value. We believe that Mathur’s sector and data center know-how will prove beneficial for Rambus.

With past experience in companies like Cypress Semiconductor where he worked as senior vice president of finance and played a major role in financial planning and investor relations, Mathur is expected to bring in transformative changes in Rambus and augment its revenues going forward.

Mathur had also served as vice president of finance at Spansion (later acquired by Cypress). Over the years, he has successfully steered technology companies such as NetSuite and KLA-Tencor and expects to emulate the same success at Rambus.

Mathur holds a series of educational and professional degrees, including a Bachelor of Arts degree and an MBA from Dartmouth College and Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, respectively.

With such extensive experience in the world of technology, Mathur is likely to be an asset for the company and will likely contribute to its growth.

Rambus is poised well to capitalize on the rising popularity of energy-efficient lighting and LED products in the latest architectural, retail, commercial and residential lighting fixtures. The recent acquisition of Smart Card Software will enhance its product offerings, thereby boosting its top and bottom line performance over the long run, in our view.

Rambus is going through a restructuring phase and we expect it to yield favorable results. Additionally, licensing agreements — the result of successful monetization of Rambus’ patents — remains a recurring revenue source.

However, competition from Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMI - Free Report) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) and customer concentration remain headwinds for the company.
