FLIR Systems' Spree Continues, Launches Thermal Imagers

Read MoreHide Full Article

FLIR Systems, Inc.  launched three product families of outdoor and tactical thermal imagers, powered with FLIR Boson camera core.

The company has already unveiled a number of products so far this year. It introduced an optical gas imaging camera, FLIR GFx320, for the oil and gas industry. This was preceded by the introduction of five new thermal imaging cameras at the consumer electronics and technology tradeshow – CES 2017 – week before last.

Shares of the company have had a decent run over the past six months, returning 8% compared to the Zacks categorized Electronics-Military Systems industry average of 3.1%, over the same time frame. Increased adoption of thermal imaging in a broad spectrum of applications, ranging from military to personal hand-held cameras and smartphones, continue to fuel growth in this market.

The newly introduced products include thermal handhelds, weapon sights, and clip-ons with FLIR's latest compact, uncooled thermal camera core, FLIR Boson. These thermal imagers enable users to detect heat and see in complete darkness. Further, when combined with precision optics, these imagers offer unequaled imaging and functionality for tactical and outdoor enthusiasts.

These products have been developed with the help of Armasight’s capabilities, which FLIR Systems acquired last year. Armasight has helped fortify the company’s leading position in thermal optics for the tactical and outdoor markets.

Going forward, FLIR Systems’ core strengths of providing reliable and effective imaging & threat-detection technologies is likely to bolster its growth. Moreover, cost-effective and easy deployment features of these cameras, along with consistent price slashes, have been driving growth. We expect steady market traction of these products to help this Zacks Rank #3 (Buy) company bolster revenue growth, moving ahead.
