Facebook Crushes Q4 Earnings, Mobile Ad Revenue Up 80%

Facebook Inc. just released its fourth quarter fiscal 2016 financial results, posting earnings, before non-recurring items, of $1.24 per share and revenues of $8.81 billion. Currently, FB is a #3 (Hold) on the Zacks Rank, and is up 2.30% to $136.26 per share in trading shortly after its earnings report was released.

Beat earnings estimates. The company posted earnings of $1.24 per share, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.11 per share and up 110% from the prior-year period. This number excludes 3 cents from non-recurring items.

Beat revenue estimates. The company saw total revenue figures of $8.81 billion, soaring past our consensus estimate of $8.466 billion and gaining a whopping 51% year-over-year

For full year 2016, Facebook reported daily active users (DAUs) of 1.23 billion on average, an increase of 18%. Mobile DAUs were 1.15 billion on average, up 23% year-over-year.

Monthly active users (MAUs) were 1.86 billion for 2016, an increase of 17% year-over-year. Mobile MAUs were 1.74 billion, up 21% year-over-year,

Mobile advertising revenue represented roughly 84% of advertising revenue for Q4, up about 80% year-over-year.

"Our mission to connect the world is more important now than ever," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. "Our business did well in 2016, but we have a lot of work ahead to help bring people together."
