Amphenol (APH) Beats on Q1 Earnings & Revenues

Read MoreHide Full Article

Amphenol Corporation (APH - Free Report) designs and manufactures connectors and interconnecting systems that are used to transmit electrical and optical signals for a wide range of sophisticated electronic applications. The top-line growth of the company is expected to benefit from improved end-market demand, new product rollouts and market share gains.

However, bulk of APH’s revenues comes from sales to the communications industry, demand for which is subject to rapid technological change. As the extent of competition is increasing over time, investors have been eagerly awaiting for the company’s latest earnings report.

In the last four trailing quarters, APH has reported a positive average earnings surprise of 5.01%, beating estimates on all occasions.

Currently, APH has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), but that could definitely change following the first-quarter 2017 earnings report which was just released. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

We have highlighted some of the key stats from this just-revealed announcement below:

Earnings: APH beats on earnings. Adjusted earnings came in at 71 cents per share, higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 66 cents.

Revenue: Quarterly revenues beat estimates. APH recorded revenues of $1,560.1 million, higher than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1,516 million.

Key Stats to Note: APH is poised to grow on the back of new acquisitions, business diversification and greater innovation. However, the company perceives that negative foreign currency impact or unfavourable government policies might limit near term growth. The company anticipates to accrue within the range of 70-72 cents per share and revenues within the range of $1.580-$1.620 billion in second-quarter 2017.

Stock Price: Shares price did not show any movement in the pre-market trading session.

As of Apr 25, 2017, APH’s closed the trading session at $72.18 per share.
