BlackBerry Partners With DMC Insurance to Aid Transporters

BlackBerry Limited (BB - Free Report) recently announced that it has partnered with DMC Insurance, Inc. to help trucking companies improve operations, increase safety and better manage total operating costs to mitigate risks.

DMC Insurance is part of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited and is a leading provider of commercial transportation insurance solutions. The company has more than 30 years of experience in providing insurance for the transportation industry.

As part of the deal, the companies will develop insurance-based products and services using near real-time data from BlackBerry Radar. To that end, transporters will be able to access valuable real-time information, which in turn, will help them optimize costs and improve return on investment.

BlackBerry Radar

BlackBerry Radar was designed to address the gaps in transportation and logistics management. The device provides assets in the transportation or equipment fleet with the intelligence to securely communicate in near real-time. It uses the BlackBerry QNX real-time operating system, which is trusted by customers in the automotive industry when it comes to providing mission-critical stability.

BlackBerry Radar asset tracking device collects up to 100 times more data than conventional GPS-based track and trace solutions. Comprehensive data is collected every five minutes by BlackBerry Radar’s state-of-the-art sensors. It uses the data to build a 360-degree visualization of customer’s assets, ensuring safety, security and regulatory compliance.

BlackBerry Radar entails a monitoring device, cellular connectivity, web-based applications, unlimited access and cloud-based intelligence. It enables customers to get rich, accurate data that supports in-depth analytics, applications and instant alerts, required to optimize their day-to-day operations.
