Juniper Expands on EVPN-VXLAN, Branch Portfolio & Aerohive

Read MoreHide Full Article

Juniper Networks, Inc. (JNPR - Free Report) recently announced the expansion of its campus portfolio. The move includes the extension of Ethernet VPN (EVPN)-Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN) fabric to enable a common architecture for campus and data center fabrics. The EVPN-VXLAN protocol is ideal for campus architectures as it provides layer-3 transport with layer-2 capabilities.

While EVPN is a standards-based technology that provides virtual multipoint bridged connectivity between different Layer 2 domains, VXLAN expands the Layer 2 network address space from four thousand to 16 million, largely solving the scaling issues witnessed in VLAN-based environments.

Interestingly, enterprises can build campus networks, using the same protocols that are available today, with Juniper’s new EVPN-VXLAN campus architecture. By extending EVPN-VXLAN beyond data centers, the company is providing building blocks for an enterprise-wide fabric, which is a key component in building a simple and automated multi-cloud.

Juniper’s Branch Portfolio

Juniper has enhanced its branch portfolio, with new capabilities in its Contrail SD-WAN solution, using NFX Series, SRX Series and vSRX Series WAN Edge devices combined with Contrail Service Orchestration. Contrail SD-WAN provides a simple and automated multi-cloud SD-WAN, which enables creating an evolvable architecture to simplify growth. It automates the WAN edge across Juniper virtual cloud endpoints and on-premises next-generation firewall. Contrail SD-WAN uses Contrail Service Orchestration to design and run the entire service lifecycle across NFX Series Network Services platforms, MX Series routers and SRX Series services gateways.

Resell Agreement With Aerohive Networks

Moreover, at the same time, the company has expanded its alliance with Aerohive Networks, a global Wi-Fi leader, to provide a cloud-managed, wired, wireless and WAN solution. The global resell agreement with Aerohive will enable Juniper to provide a unified cloud managed campus and branch networking solution — from Ethernet switches to enterprise-ready wireless access points.

5-Step Multi-Cloud Migration Framework

Juniper is expanding its 5-step multi-cloud migration framework to include evolution paths for campus and branch networks. The migration provides enterprises with a set of best practices and natural technology insertions for easier completion of the journey to a secure, and automated multi-cloud.
