NVIDIA Introduces Chipsets Based on Turing Architecture

Read MoreHide Full Article

NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA - Free Report) recently launched the first chips based on its next generation of chip technology called Turing, which can render graphics six times faster than the earlier Pascal-based ones.

Reportedly, Turing features new RT Cores that make ray tracing 25 times faster than the old Pascal Architecture by computing how light and sound travel in 3D environments. Moreover, it features Tensor Cores - processors that accelerate deep-learning training and inferencing.

Concurrently, NVIDIA announced three graphic cards based on the technology, namely Quadro RTX 5000, 6000 and 8000, which will be up for sale for $2.3K, $6.3K and $10K, respectively, in the fourth quarter.

Notably, Quadro RTX GPUs are designed for use in film and video content creation, automotive and architectural design, and scientific visualization.

We believe the launch of the new GPU will help the company strengthen its competitive position against the likes of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD - Free Report) and Intel (INTC - Free Report) , help it expand its footprint in several fast-growing fields and aid its top line.

Strong Adoption of NVIDIA’s GPUs

NVIDIA’s GPUs are rapidly penetrating the gaming and datacenter markets, which is driving top-line growth. Moreover, NVIDIA GPUs are gaining rapid traction with the proliferation of AI. The increasing usage of AI tools in datacenter, automotive, healthcare and manufacturing industries is likely to drive demand for GPUs in the long haul.

NVIDIA is already a dominant player in the datacenter market. The company enjoys a first-mover advantage in the AI field and its expanding product portfolio is capable enough to leverage the growing adoption of AI in various industries.

On the last conference call, management sounded optimistic regarding the rising traction in AI inference. NVIDIA said that more than 1,200 companies are using this inference platform, including Amazon, Microsoft (MSFT - Free Report) , Facebook, Google, Alibaba, Baidu, Hi Vision and Tencent.

Moreover, the real-time ray tracing technology, NVIDIA RTX is likely to take the gaming experience to a whole new level. Hence, the product launch will help NVIDIA expand its customer base and in turn drive additional revenues.

Furthermore, the launch of these chips will help NVIDIA cater to the requirement of graphics and design professionals who make films and other video content. As a result of this, the company will be able to fend off competition from AMD, which is expected to launch new graphic chips next year.
