Read MoreHide Full Article

Amphenol Corporation (APH - Free Report) is set to report third-quarter 2018 results on Oct 24.

Notably, the company’s earnings beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate in the trailing four quarters, delivering an average positive surprise of 6.80%.

In the last reported quarter, the company’s earnings of 90 cents per share surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 85 cents. The figure was much better than 81 cents per share reported in the year-ago quarter.

Revenues of $1.98 billion surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.88 billion and came in 18.9% higher than the year-ago figure, driven by strong organic growth across most of Amphenol’s end markets.

For the third quarter of 2018, Amphenol forecasts earnings in the range of 91-93 cents per share. Revenues are anticipated between $1.98 billion and $2.02 billion.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter to be reported is pegged at 94 cents per share, indicating year-over-year growth of 6.8%. Further, the consensus mark for revenues is pegged at $2.01 billion, up roughly 9.3% from the year-ago quarter.

Let’s look at how things are shaping up for this announcement.

Key Factors

Amphenol remains confident about strong organic and inorganic growth across most of its end markets, in particular, mobile devices, military, industrial, automotive, and commercial air. Additionally, product rollouts and continued acquisitions remain positives.

Additionally, increase in overall military spending is expected to help the company generate increasing revenues from the military market, which is a positive. Moreover, Amphenol’s record orders of $2.025 billion (up 18% year over year), in second-quarter 2018, reflected higher demand for the company’s products.

Furthermore, Amphenol remains encouraged by expanding presence in the fast-growing commercial aerospace market, which delivered strong performance in the first half of 2018. The company’s strategy to acquire on a global basis in the high-growth segments that have complementary capabilities from a product, customer and/or geographic standpoint bodes well.

The acquisitions of All Sensors and Ardent Concepts (in second-quarter) also expand sensor Interconnect Products & Assemblies segment offerings, respectively.

However, for third quarter 2018, management expects sales to be lower due to seasonality. Moreover, increasing debt levels, rising cost of raw materials and uncertainties related to global trade policies remain concerns.
