Nordstorm, Inc. (JWN - Free Report) is focused on store expansion and remodeling initiatives. In this regard, the company re-opened its San Juan store in Puerto Rico on Nov 9. The celebration to mark the reopening of the store was held on the same date. Launched initially in March 2015, the store remained closed from fall 2017, owing to severe damage from Hurricane Maria.

The revamped store will now include three shoe departments along with a spacious cosmetics and accessories area, and a wide array of women, men and children products from popular brands. Some of the notable apparel brands featured in the store are Robert Rodriguez, Vince Camuto, Good American, Tory Burch, Alice + Olivia, Frame, Ted Baker London, Rebecca Minkoff, Nike (NKE - Free Report) , Hugo Boss, Levi's, MCM, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade New York and Psycho Bunny. Beauty brands such as MAC, Clinique, La Mer, Tom Ford, Jo Malone, Diptyque Estée Lauder (EL - Free Report) , Chanel, Giorgio Armani and Creed will also be available in the store.

Further, the store is poised to enhance customers shopping experience through services like Buy Online & Pick Up in Store, on-site alterations and tailoring, Curbside Pickup, Beauty Stylists, The Nordy Club loyalty program, Anastasia Beverly Hills brow services, cell phone charging and complimentary gift boxes.

Apart from these, the store will have three food offerings — Ebar, Habitant and Bazille. While Ebar is known for handcrafted coffee beverages, house-made smoothies, pastries and grab-and-go food items, Habitant is an in-store bar that serves wine, cocktails and freshly prepared appetizers. On the other hand, Bazille is a restaurant offering contemporary American interpretation of bistro cuisine.

This move, which comes right ahead of the holiday season, has opened doors for employment in the store. The company has already recruited 130 sales and support employees, out of which 40 employees were either hired back or relocated from United States.

So far in fiscal 2018, Nordstrom opened eight and closed two stores, and relocated a store. The company is on track to open three new stores in fall 2018. The opening of new stores is not only expected to attract customers but also boost the company’s top line and grow its market share. We note that this Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) company has gained 23.6% in the past three months, outperforming the industry’s decline of 4.6%.
