Read MoreHide Full Article

Consumer prices in the United States rose 2.5% year over year in October 2018, in line with market expectations and above September’s 2.3%. Higher oil and gasoline prices kept inflation steady. Year over year, prices rose faster for fuel oil (26.2% from 23.4% in September) and gasoline (16.1% from 9.1%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3%, higher than 0.1% in September and in line with forecasts. The rise marked the highest monthly gain in nine months. The indexes for shelter, used cars and trucks, medical care, household furnishings and operations, motor vehicle insurance, and tobacco increased on a monthly basis in October.
