Let’s Delve Deeper
HP introduced the world’s first laptop with an AMOLED display — HP Spectre x360 15 — which will be instrumental in “delivering an exceptional display to a dramatically redesigned premium PC”. The HP Spectre Folio is also available in Bordeaux Burgundy and with an optional 4K display.
The company also unveiled HP Pavilion 27 Quantum Dot, the world’s first Quantum Dot on glass display with more than a billion viewable colors.
Additionally, the HP Pavilion 27 FHD brings forward a built-in B&O audio and a pop-up privacy camera. Moreover, the HP Pavilion 32 QHD offers a “dynamic display with immersive QHD resolution and stunning vantage points from almost any angle.”
Furthermore, HP unveiled complementary accessories including an ultra-slim HP ENVY USB-C Hub and HP 15.6 Odyssey Backpack.
To cater to the growing security needs, HP launched the third-generation HP Sure View integrated privacy screen. The new Elite products featuring HP Sure View Gen3 will help protecting all sensitive information.
The new products comprise business convertible HP EliteBook x360 830 G5, the world’s first display with an integrated privacy screen — HP EliteDisplay E243p Sure View Monitor, and the world’s first AiO with an integrated privacy screen — HP EliteOne 800 AiO G5.
Moreover, the company claims to take gaming experiences to scale new heights with OMEN x Emperium 65, which apart from NVIDIA’s (NVDA - Free Report) G-SYNC HDR monitor boast OMEN X Emperium Soundbar.
The company is also taking advantage of the latest available technology by refreshing two of its best-selling OMEN PCs. The latest OMEN 15 Laptop now flaunts a 240 Hz display, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20-series GPUs and optional 802.11ax Wi-Fi15. The latest version of the OMEN Obelisk Desktop is now capable of up to 64GB of HyperX Memory, NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080 Ti graphics, 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K CPU16, Dual SSD w/ RAID0 and liquid cooling.
What it Means for HP
HP’s efforts to turn the business around have been commendable. The company has adopted a strategy of engaging in product innovations and differentiation to stabilize the top line. Its focus on catering to the growing demand for security and gaming systems is noteworthy.
Furthermore, looking at the data compiled by two independent research firms, namely Gartner and International Data Corporation, HP held the second spot among worldwide PC vendors in the third quarter 2018. HP registered 6.2% growth in PC shipments and raised its market share to 21.8% from 20.5% in the year-ago quarter.
We believe that the spin-off from Hewlett-Packard Company and restructuring initiatives, such as focus on product development, pricing, marketing and sales activities plus divestment of non-core assets are tailwinds for the company.
