Amazon Brings AmazonFresh in Indianapolis to Boost Delivery

Read MoreHide Full Article

Amazon (AMZN - Free Report) is leaving no stone unturned to bolster its e-commerce business, evident from the launch of AmazonFresh service in Indianapolis.

Notably, the service enables Prime members to receive delivery of daily essential goods and grocery items ranging from meats to fresh produce within two hours.

Further, AmazonFresh allows Prime shoppers to combine their grocery orders with Amazon bestsellers that include Amazon devices, home & kitchen, toys, health and personal care as well as electronics. Members can get their orders delivered at their doorsteps through the options — ultrafast 1 and 2-hour delivery.

Through the recent launch, the e-commerce giant aims to provide comfort and convenience to Prime members in Indianapolis that will enhance their shopping experience. Further, this will likely enable the company to attract more shoppers to join Prime.

Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery Stance

The latest move bodes well for Amazon, which is working toward expanding AmazonFresh. The service was also introduced in Houston, Minneapolis, Phoenix and Las Vegas. It also strengthens the company’s same-day delivery service, which is much in demand in this fast-paced world.

Apart from AmazonFresh, the company introduced a two-hour delivery service of natural and organic products, such as meat and seafood, fresh produce and staples from Whole Foods Market to additional cities in the United States. The cities are Lexington, Little Rock, Charlottesville, Asheville, Columbia, Manchester, Savannah, Naples and Mobile.

At present, the service delivers groceries in 90 U.S. metros.

Intense Competition

All these above-mentioned endeavors are expected to maintain the company’s dominant position in the e-commerce space despite growing same-day delivery initiatives by retailers like Walmart (WMT - Free Report) , Kroger (KR - Free Report) and Target (TGT - Free Report) .

Recently, Walmart has started offering same-day delivery service for certain home and tech products such as clothing irons, laptops, mobile phones and televisions among others in Mexico.

Also, its extended partnership with Deliv and the Parcel buyout will support its same-day delivery initiative.

Target’s buyout of Shipt continues to strengthen its same-day delivery service, which is contributing to the top line.

Meanwhile, Kroger is reportedly testing a service that delivers meals and groceries to customers within 30 minutes.

Nevertheless, Prime’s fast delivery services along with additional benefits like strong loyalty system and customer-friendly offers continue to attract customers.

Further, expanding movie and video content portfolio on Prime Video is another positive that enables the company to attract shoppers to join Prime program. All these factors are likely to drive the company’s top line.
