Autodesk reported modest third-quarter fiscal 2016 results having finally achieved breakeven earnings. Revenues though declined year over year, were ahead of expectations. The company raised its earnings guidance for fourth quarter, but billing are expected to remain soft. We believe Autodesk’s ongoing business restructuring is expected to benefit the company in the long run. However, in the near term, the company’s profitability will tend to be affected because of investments in cloud-based infrastructure and marketing initiatives. Further, the discontinuation of perpetual license offerings in 2016 may have some impact on the company’s financials.
