BancorpSouth’s fourth-quarter 2015 earnings lagged the Zacks Consensus Estimate, but compared favorably with the year-ago tally. Results reflected rise in expenses, partly mitigated by higher revenues. With continued improvement in asset quality and opportunistic acquisitions, the company seems well positioned for long-term growth. Moreover, efficient capital deployment enhances shareholders’ value.  Additionally, the company’s efforts toward expense management will likely boost bottom-line growth in the upcoming quarters. However, declining non-interest income, volatility in loan and deposit growth, along with margin pressure and stringent regulatory landscape, continue to concern us.
