CareFusion recently revealed the takeover of U.K. Medical Limited, a distributor of medical offerings to the private health sector in the U.K. as well as the National Health Service (“NHS”) of that country. U.K. Medical, however, mainly catered to the NHS and distributed many one-time-use medical offerings used in surgery, biopsy, gynecology, obstetrics, drainage, cardiac and other functions. CareFusion did not provide information on the terms of the transaction.
This takeover bolsters CareFusion’s role in the U.K. where it has already created a leadership position for itself in infection prevention and infusion therapy. This acquisition is a natural outcome of the long-standing cooperation between CareFusion and U.K. Medical. With this takeover, CareFusion is in a stronger position to harness its clinical expertise in that country.
U.K. Medical is CareFusion’s fifth takeover, integral to its strategy to grow in the global markets. The U.K.-based distributor enjoyed robust client relationships and clinical know-how on latest medical technologies, including offerings used in acute-care facilities.
