CenterPoint Energy, Inc.
CenterPoint Energy’s first-quarter 2016 earnings beat Street estimates and surged year over year. However, revenues missed the mark and declined year over year mainly due to lower contribution from the Energy Services and Natural Gas Distribution segments. Moreover, the company’s results are vulnerable to weather patterns, regulatory and judicial proceedings, and fluctuating commodity prices. On the bright side, the company has been strengthening its infrastructure through regular capital investment and acquisitions, which will help it to meet the requirements of an expanding customer base.
