Facebook (FB) Gains As Market Dips: What You Should Know

Facebook closed at $166.80 in the latest trading session, marking a +0.51% move from the prior day. This change outpaced the S&P 500's 1.6% loss on the day. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 1.84%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 0.95%.

Prior to today's trading, shares of the social media company had lost 15.52% over the past month. This has lagged the Computer and Technology sector's loss of 9.68% and the S&P 500's loss of 10.82% in that time.

FB will be looking to display strength as it nears its next earnings release. The company is expected to report EPS of $2.55, up 200% from the prior-year quarter. Meanwhile, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for revenue is projecting net sales of $17.98 billion, up 19.25% from the year-ago period.
