Company Summary
Based in Stockholm, Autoliv is a holding company that operates through two principal subsidiaries — Autoliv AB and Autoliv ASP. Autoliv was born out of a 1997 merger of Swedish firm Autoliv AB and US firm Morton ASP. On Jun 29, 2018, Autoliv completed the spin-off of its Electronics business to Veoneer, Inc. Following the completion of the spin-off, the company is focused on occupant safety products.
Autoliv is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of a wide range of product offerings, which majorly includes passive safety systems. Passive safety systems offered by Autoliv include modules and components for frontal-impact airbag protection systems, side-impact airbag protection systems, seatbelts, steering wheels, inflator technologies, battery cable cutters, pedestrian protection systems and child seats. Autoliv also engages in joint ventures to expand geographical expansion, develop technology and gain support to market its full product line to vehicle manufacturers.
Including joint venture operations, Autoliv has more than 60,000 employees at 65 production hubs in 25 countries. The facilities consist of component hubs and assembly factories. Autoliv’s business is conducted in five key geographical regions, which includes Europe, the Americas, China, Japan and the Rest of Asia. Major customers of this automotive safety supplier include Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Renault, Ford, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Toyota, Daimler, General Motors, BMW and Stellantis.
Autoliv has two reportable segments: 1) Airbags and Associated Products and 2) Seatbelts and Associated Products. Of the total annual sales of $8.8 billion in 2022, roughly 65.7% consisted of airbag products, and the rest 34.3% are from seatbelt products.
Amid heightening climate concerns, Autoliv intends to make its operations carbon neutral by 2030 and targets zero emissions across its supply chain by 2040.
