In April 2019, Goodyear announced its 50-50 joint venture (JV) with Bridgestone Americas, Inc. (Bridgestone) to form the largest tire distribution network in the United States. TireHub LLC, the new JV, offers light-truck and passenger-vehicle tires with primary importance on fulfilling the rising demand for larger rim-diameter premium tires. TireHub offers Goodyear greater control and alignment over the distribution of tires. In December 2019, Goodyear acquired Raben Tire, expanding its network and strengthening its ability to serve fleets. In June 2021, Goodyear acquired Cooper Tire, thus strengthening its leadership position in the global tire industry.
Although Goodyear generates sales globally, North America is its largest market. The company’s tire business is organized into three geographical segments:
Americas (59.7% of total revenues in 2023) is the company’s largest segment in terms of revenues. It develops, manufactures, distributes and sells tires and related products and services in North, Central and South America. It sells tires to various export markets, primarily through intersegment sales.
Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) (27.9%) is the company’s second-largest segment in terms of revenues. It develops, manufactures, distributes and sells tires for automobiles, trucks, buses, aircraft, motorcycles, and earthmoving, mining and industrial equipment throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and sells tires to various export markets, primarily through intersegment sales.
The Asia-Pacific (12.4%) segment develops, manufactures, distributes and sells tires for automobiles, trucks, buses, aircraft, farm, and earthmoving, mining and industrial equipment throughout the Asia Pacific region, and sells tires to various export markets, primarily through intersegment sales.
