Schlumberger-TGS to Work on Multiclient Nodal Seismic Project

Schlumberger Limited (SLB - Free Report) has teamed up with TGS on a new multiclient nodal seismic project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

The Amendment project includes purchase of 2,350-square kilometer multiclient seismic survey in the Mississippi Canyon and Atwater Valley protraction areas of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.Open acreage, existing producing assets and new discoveries are part of this prolific area. Fairfield Geotechnologies 4C nodal acquisition technology will be used to obtain seismic data. The parties will apply their full azimuth processing expertise.

The operations are anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2018 and final data are expected to be delivered to the customers in the first quarter of 2020.

The Amendment project will benefit E&P companies that are interested in the benefits of nodal seismic data to overcome imaging challenges in the Central U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The project will also boost Schlumbergers’ and TGS’ current data coverage.

In the project, the companies will reimage underlying WAZ seismic data to delivercontemporary, premium nodal seismic data to clients.

This survey is backed by industry prefunding.

The world’s largest oilfield services company, Schlumberger is expected to report results on Oct 19, 2018, before the opening bell. Other major oil services firms like Halliburton Company (HAL - Free Report) , Weatherford International plc and Baker Hughes , a GE company, will report earnings next week.
