Apple (AAPL) Will No Longer Report iPhone Unit Sales Numbers

AAPL

Apple (AAPL - Free Report) reported fourth quarter earnings on Thursday after the bell. Earnings and revenues did beat analyst expectations, but soft Q1 guidance and a miss on iPhone sales left many investors worried.

Another announcement that shook investors was that Apple would no longer be reporting iPhone—or any other product—sales numbers on future earnings calls. CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri explained that they believe unit sales had grown less important than total dollar revenue. And, they said that Apple’s other lines of business were increasingly important, like its Services division.

But this explanation did not calm investors’ fears. Citi analyst Jim Suva said: “some investors will view this as a negative that the company is trying to hide information that in the past was so important to assess the company's strength.” AAPL stock was trading down 6.5% in mid-morning trading Friday.

From thousands of stocks, 5 Zacks experts each have chosen their favorite to skyrocket +100% or more in months to come. From those 5, Director of Research Sheraz Mian hand-picks one to have the most explosive upside of all.

It’s a little-known chemical company that’s up 65% over last year, yet still dirt cheap. With unrelenting demand, soaring 2022 earnings estimates, and $1.5 billion for repurchasing shares, retail investors could jump in at any time.

This company could rival or surpass other recent Zacks’ Stocks Set to Double like Boston Beer Company which shot up +143.0% in little more than 9 months and NVIDIA which boomed +175.9% in one year.
