Jan 14, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Speciality chemicals and performance materials company Cabot Corporation (NYSE:CBT) on Friday named Friedrich von Gottberg as president of the Purification Solutions Segment.

The company has also appointed senior vice president Nicholas Cross as president of the Advanced Technologies Segment.

Von Gottberg will succeed Ronald Thompson and will be directly responsible for the management of the Purification Solutions Segment, reporting to president and CEO Patrick Prevost.

Since joining Cabot in 1997, von Gottberg has held several key leadership positions within the company and most recently served as senior vice president and president of the Advanced Technologies Segment - New Business Group.

Cross joined Cabot in 2009 as president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. He has been president of the Specialty Fluids Business since 2011.

Earlier, Cross spent almost 25 years with BP plc in senior management roles in its chemicals, oil and gas businesses.
