DICK's Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS - Free Report) is inaugurating two new stores in New York and California, in line with its expansion strategy. These new stores will open doors on Jul 8 with celebrations continuing over the weekend.
The new California outlet, located at Southland Mall in Hayward, will bring the company’s store count in the state to 43. The New York store at Green Acres Commons in Valley Stream will be the company’s 39th store in the state. These stores will bring DICK'S Sporting’s number of stores in the U.S. to 650.
The New York store will offer over 40 suitable in-store services provided by DICK's Sporting Goods' certified PROS in sports and outdoor specialties like Golf, Biking and Fishing. Moreover, the new location will house Under Armour Inc. (UA - Free Report) and Nike Inc. (NKE - Free Report) shops. The outlet will also accommodate athletic clothing and footwear, along with the latest equipment for team sports, fitness, camping, hunting and fishing.
In order to attract customers to its new store during the celebration period, DICK’s Sporting has announced a range of lucrative giveaways.
The company will distribute free Reebok Play Dry T-Shirts to the first 100 people in queue on the opening day. The early birds will also get an opportunity to open the DICK's Sporting Goods Gift Locker on all three days of celebrations. Moreover, on Saturday and Sunday, the company plans to give away Mystery Gift Cards to the first 100 adults in line.
Additionally, to attract customers, former New York outfielder Mookie Wilson has been invited to make an in-store appearance at the New York store on Saturday, while former basketball forward Rick Barry will be at the California outlet on Sunday.
