Apple Keynote Event Coming Up on Sep 7: What to Expect?

Read MoreHide Full Article

Apple Inc. (AAPL - Free Report) notified about its forthcoming keynote event by just saying “See you on the 7th.”

The much awaited event will likely mark the launch of a new iPhone, expected to be named iPhone 7. In addition, we also expect to get updates on the iOS 10 and software for other Apple devices.

Media reports indicate that besides the iPhone, the company’s Mac, Apple Watch, Apple Pay and Apple TV will also get their fair share of attention at the event.

Coming back to the iPhone, this time, the company will launch its 10th-generation handset. After flagging iPhone sales in the last few quarters, all eyes are on a newer iPhone, which will allow the company to solidify its presence.

This time, investors are optimistic as it’s expected that the new iPhone will boost the upgrade cycle. This is because, at last year’s keynote event, the company had launched iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which did not call for an upgrade for those using iPhone 6 at least.

Apple has been seeing positive estimate revisions ahead of the event. Over the last 30 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for 2016 inched up 0.2% to $8.28 per share.

It remains to be seen whether the event can live up to investors’ expectations this time.

Apple currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Some better-ranked stocks in the broader technology space include Facebook, Inc. , Avid Technology, Inc. and Infoblox Inc. , all sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
