Read MoreHide Full Article
Premier semiconductor manufacturer Qorvo, Inc. (QRVO - Free Report) recently was awarded the ZigBee 3.0 certification for its smart home gateway platform. The company’s Low Power Wireless unit (earlier known as GreenPeak Technologies) is the industry’s first to receive this certification.
About ZigBee
ZigBee is used in advanced communication procedures required to create personal area networks with small, low-power digital radios. ZigBee specification is used to simplify and curb costs compared to other wireless personal area networks. ZigBee 3.0 enables communication and interoperability across a wide range of smart devices.
Benefits of the Deal
Per this certification, software developers will be able to incorporate the standard into their smart home applications in a short span of time. This certification proves Qorvo’s superiority in the IoT market and its ability to provide complete solutions.
Using this system, a developer can focus on building a system without worrying about the various standards set by ZigBee. The new ZigBee 3.0 is fully integrated with the GP712 radio communication controller chip which enables smooth functioning.
Per a research by Markets and Markets, the IoT market is likely to grow from $157.05 billion in 2016 to $661.74 billion by 2021 with a compound annual growth rate of 33.3%. The key factors which drive the IoT market are development of cheaper and smarter sensors, evolution of high speed networking technologies, and rising adoption of cloud platforms across industry verticals.
This certification will help Qorvo gain an edge over its peers and retain its position as the leader in the Semiconductor-Radio Frequency industry.
Qorvo’s Business
Headquartered in Greensboro, NC, Qorvo was formed by the merger of two semiconductor manufacturing firms, RF Micro Devices, Inc. and TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. in an all-stock transaction that was billed as ‘a merger of equals’.
Qorvo has introduced highly integrated front-end solutions that simplify and accelerate the implementation of multimode, multi-band 4G smartphones and tablets. These new RF Fusion front-end solutions showcase Qorvo's ability to help leading OEMs to quickly launch their next-generation flagship devices. Qorvo's RF Flex solutions have been selected to support multiple upcoming leading 4G reference designs. RF Flex delivers the best-in-class current consumption to enable superior device performance and leading-edge design flexibility to simplify regional customization.
