Tata Motors Limited’s shares gained 3.1% on Dec 9, after the automaker reported that its global wholesales, inclusive of Jaguar Land Rover, increased 1% year over year to 91,832 vehicles in Nov 2016. Cumulative global wholesales for Apr through Nov 2016 were 727,726 vehicles, up 8% from the year-ago figure.
Global wholesales of all Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles and the Tata Daewoo range were 26,970 vehicles in Nov 2016, down 7% from the comparable year-ago figure. However, cumulative commercial vehicle sales from April through November were up 5% year over year, at 253,802 vehicles.
Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in the month of November rose 5% to 64,862 units, while cumulative sales from April through November improved 6% to 473,924 units.
Jaguar Land Rover recorded global sales of 51,792 vehicles in Nov 2016. Cumulative wholesales for the April–November period were 369,231 vehicles. Jaguar wholesales were 17,284 vehicles in November and 110,782 units for April–November. Land Rover sales totaled 34,508 vehicles for last month and 258,449 units for April through November.
So far this year, Tata Motors’ shares have outperformed the Zacks categorized Auto Manufacturers-Foreign industry due to comparatively poor market performance of Japanese automakers.
