Stocks opened higher and remained in the green for the majority of the day Wednesday, but these gains were ultimately wiped out in late afternoon trading as investors reacted to the hesitant tone present in the minutes from the latest Fed meeting.
Nevertheless, several interesting stories broke throughout the day, including the news that hydrogen fuel cell maker Plug Power is teaming up with Amazon and Panera Bread is being bought out by the owner of Krispy Kreme.
On Wednesday, shares of hydrogen fuel cell maker Plug Power (PLUG - Free Report) are skyrocketing, up around 73% in afternoon trading after the company announced a supply agreement with e-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN - Free Report) , a deal which could be worth up to $600 million.
Shares of Panera Bread opened nearly 13.5% higher on Wednesday morning after the company announced that it has sold itself to JAB, a German conglomerate that owns Krispy Kreme, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Keurig Green Mountain, and a variety of other food and drink brands.
The ongoing legal dispute between Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL - Free Report) and Uber just took an interesting turn. The ride-sharing company admitted in court Wednesday that it found one of the documents that Waymo—formerly the Google self-driving car project—claims was stolen by a former employee.
