Lions Gate Entertainment (LGF.A - Free Report) recently signed a deal with Emmy and Golden Globe winning writer and producer, Jenny Bicks. The agreement, which was announced by Kevin Beggs, chairman of Lionsgate Television Group, will involve development and production of original television series.

Bicks has a host of notable titles in her kitty including the likes of Sex and the City, The Big C, The Greatest Showman and Rio 2 among others. She has also produced and written Dawson's Creek and created the ABC series Men in Trees. Currently, she is working with Sarah Jessica Parker for the series Divorce broadcast on HBO.

Bicks is the latest addition to the list of talent working for Lions Gate including Kim Tannenbaum of Two and a Half Men,  Justin Simien of Dear White People, Courtney Kemp of Power and Yvette Lee Bowser of Black-ish among others.

We believe that the addition of such well-known talents will boost the company’s top line going ahead, which declined 7.2% to reach $932.7 million in first-quarter fiscal 2019.

What’s Influencing the Stock?

Lions Gate’s strategic buyouts like that of Starz have helped it emerge as a major player in the TV space and regain lost ground in streaming network. However, restructuring initiative and higher spending are dragging down profitability.

The restructuring of Lions Gate’s film slate business is likely to put pressure on fiscal 2019 results. The company has repositioned its film business and increased spending on Starz programming. As a result, it expects fiscal 2019 results to be almost in line with fiscal 2018.

Additionally, the motion picture production’s escalating costs related to marketing may hurt margins going forward. Furthermore, a highly competitive industry with players like Comcast Corporation (CMCSA - Free Report) , Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc. (FOXA - Free Report) and Viacom Inc. remains a concern for this Zacks Rank #4 (Sell) stock.

Will You Make a Fortune on the Shift to Electric Cars?

Here's another stock idea to consider. Much like petroleum 150 years ago, lithium power may soon shake the world, creating millionaires and reshaping geo-politics. Soon electric vehicles (EVs) may be cheaper than gas guzzlers. Some are already reaching 265 miles on a single charge.

With battery prices plummeting and charging stations set to multiply, one company stands out as the #1 stock to buy according to Zacks research.

It's not the one you think.
